Hi,

As some of the guys already know, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in early August. I am one of the lucky ones as it was picked up in a routine examination. Whilst I have still to be given the all clear, there are far too many men who will not be as fortunate because of ignorance, lack of awareness and the lack of symptoms.

This Movember, the month formerly known as November I’ve decided to donate my face to raising awareness about prostate cancer. My donation and commitment is the growth of a moustache for the entire month of Movember, which I know will generate conversation, controversy and laughter.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One man dies every hour from the disease in the UK. This is a cause that I feel passionately about and I’m asking you to support my efforts by making a donation to The Prostate Cancer Charity. To help, you can either:

A big thank you to everyone who came along on the 16th to the fundraiser. It was a great success and everyone seemed to enjoy it. A big thank you to Craig Bryson and Cammy Bell for coming along and joining in too.

Directions to the Barge.

You can take the number 16, 22 or 35 bus down to the shore area. Get off once you see the river. The 22 will drop you off across from Pizza Express. Here you should be able to see The Cruz bar and Restaurant, which is a big white boat sitting on the river. The Mary of Guise Barge is sitting behind this boat. To get to the entrance walk past Cruz and you will see the walk way at the other end of the Barge. Please remember that the Barge is owned by a private company in the Shore area and they are doing us a favour by letting us use it. Please show respect once on board.

This years Fundraiser and Race Night will be held on the 16th of October after the hibs game at Easter Road. Doors from 7pm.

The venue is the Mary of Guise Barge down at the Shore area of Leith. The Barge is behind the Cruz boat pub. It has a sign on it saying ‘Tangible Leith’. See Directions Below.

Entry for the fundraiser is £7 for adults and £2 for kids. However, if you take out a EDKSC Membership for £10, you get a ticket for the fundraiser included.

We have confirmation that Mixu, Danny Invincibile, Cammy Bell and Craig Bryson will all be coming along. It will be a race night again, tickets are available for £7.
It is BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLE, as there is no licenced bar on the barge.

We all had a cracking day out on Saturday through to Kilmarnock for the St Mirren game. It looks like the team are really starting to gel and Eremenko looks like a cracking find from Mixu.

A big thanks to Kenny for driving us through, it was very much appreciated all round. And it also looks like we may have gained 2 or 3 new members too.

News from the EDKSC.

Fundraiser

The annual EDKSC fundraiser will this year be help on the 16th of October from 7pm after the game against Hibs at Easter Road. The venue will be the Mary of Guise Barge down on the Shore in Leith. This is a private venue owned by a company in the area that have kindly donated the Barge to us for the evening. Therefore, tickets are limited, we only have 50 available. You get a free ticket when you purchase your Edinburgh and District Supporters Club Memberships for £10, however, tickets can be bought separately for £7.

At the fundraiser we will be presenting Craig Bryson and Cammy Bell with their Player and Young Player of the Year Awards for last season. We also hope to have Danny Invincibile, Mixu and Kenny Shiels there too.

Like previous years we have again decided to have a Race Night, we did think about other options but due to the venue we decided that a Race Night would work best. There will also be the annual raffle, with many top prices available including a signed strip.

Tickets for the fundrasier will be available for purchase from your Social Convenor Andrew Thorne from Saturday. They can be bought directly from me on the bus to the St Mirren game on Saturday or on future buses or just whenever I see you all next. Alternitively, you can email me on andrew_thorne@hotmail.com and I will add your name to the guest list and you can pay on the door.

Memberships

Memberships are available now too. It costs £10 for an Adult Membership and £2 for under 16s for the Edinburgh & District Kilmarnock Supporters Club. For this you get:

We have ordered t-shirts for the new season. These have been simple to help promote the EDKSC and our existence to help get more people to join. By wearing these you can help the club to gain awareness at games around the country.

The supporters Club are not making a profit on these and they are available for £10. Again we should have these available on the Bus on Saturday. There will also be one or 2 in the raffle at the fundraiser.

Spread the word at work - you never know there might be a killie fan hiding there somewhere.
Students - spread the word round Uni or college, take the posters below and put them up.
Post on your facebook, twitter accounts and let all your friends know, ask them to spread the word on their accounts too.
Buy a t-shirt from the Edinburgh & District Kilmarnock Supporters Club to help promote it.

Hello, fellow killie followers.

Well, it's been a cracking week for all concerned with Killie. 2 superb results in the cup and league followed by a couple of very encouraging signings.

Now the EDKSC is following this up with a couple of announcements ourselves. First of all, the membership cards are off to print and will be ready within the next couple of days. Here is the design:

So, I hear you ask, what do I get for my membership??? Well if you look on the back of the card above, you get free entry to the fundraiser (details on that to follow) you also get entry to the Player of the Year Party at the end of the season and 3 raffle tickets for the fundraiser raffle. Plus many other benefits. Memberships are £10 for adults and just £2 for under 16s.

We also have t-shirts in the process of being made. These can be seen below:

After Saturday's thrilling victory names are being taken for the next home SPL game v St Mirren on 11th September

This is your chance to see the new signings in action and Mixu's brand of total football so make sure you book your seat on the bus to get right behind Mixu and the boys.

Bus will leave Premier Travel Inn, Morrison St, Haymarket (time TBC but either 12.00pm or 12.30pm) picking up at PC World, Corstorphine and Deer Park, Livingston.

This year we when you buy your membership card, you will recieve a keep sake credit card style membership card that will have all the necessary information on it, such as contact details and bus information. We are close to the final design of the of the card, here are a few for you to look at. At the moment the one with Pascali is the front runner.

All things going well, memberships will be available from next sunday for £10. There are many benefits to this, including discounted bus journeys, entry to the annual fundraiser and Player of the Year Party, plus many more.

5 Matches Remaining - YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!!

The SPL season is now at the business end and it is crunch time for Kilmarnock FC. These remaining 5 games represent one of the most important periods in the clubs history with its very survival at stake. Players, management and supporters must pull together to ensure we retain our SPL stauts and have a club to support next season.

The Edinburgh & Dist KSC are intending to travel to all 5 games and in order to help convene travel arrangements it would be helpful if you could inform us which games you intend travelling to.

Just a little heads up that this year's Player of the Year event is on 8th May.

It will be at St Peter's Church Hall in Lutton Place (near the Commonwealth Pool) and we have a ceilidh band booked. There'll be food & it's bring your own bottle.
